[There's a... very uncertain-looking young man peering into the camera. He's really not sure what to make of any of this. It's a little hard to believe that he's like this, and he can't morph, and that there are Pokemon.]

[... He's trying to keep it together.]

So... uh.

[Great start, Tobias.]

I guess... I'm stuck here? No one in town really had anything useful to say. None of this makes much sense. And I'm guessing asking how to get home isn't going to get me any real answers, either.

[There's a squawk off-camera, and he looks concerned for a minute.]

I'm guessing the first step is to head to the next town, right? And start building up a team...

[... Why did he make this broadcast anyway?]

... If anyone's got any advice for that kind of thing, feel free to give it.

[He clicks the broadcast off.]

[Action]

[He's not in New Bark Town anymore. He's nearby, but he's sitting in a small area free of tall grass, staring down his Pokemon. What's a Rufflet, anyway? ... At least the body language is familiar. He holds out his hand, waiting for the little Pokemon to approach.]

[... This might take a while.]

[ Ah man he knows that feeling. This guy must be new. ]

I can't pretend to be an expert but I can offer what advice I can.

Did you just come in?

[ Oh gosh he remembers his first day in. ]

Well... I guess I'm probably not going to be the first to tell you that it isn't all that bad once you get used to it.

If you're building a team, I suggest getting a balanced roster. If you've noticed, all Pokemon have a "type". You can try to get at least one of each type and keep them trained so you have one for any situation.

You could start by getting a fire, water and grass type to start. Once in a while, someone breeds their pokemon and offers the eggs on the network so you can count on that if you're having a hard time finding them in the wild.

[ A pause. ]

Are you taking on the gym challenge?

It won't hurt. It depends on which region you're currently in. If you're like me and the first gym you have to face will be Falkner's, I recommend getting a mareep. You can find them nearby and electric moves work against flying types.

Yeah. It's kind of like a small yellow sheep. I'd show you but I'm afraid mine's evolved already.

[ Give him a second to turn the camera to an Ampharos that perks up and suddenly ducks down. ]

Right... that's... what it evolves into. Sorry. Pikari's a little shy.

They should be easy enough to spot in the morning if you look in the grass.

[ He's turned the Gear back to himself now. ]

Good luck on your gym challenge.
