I guess... I'm stuck here? No one in town really had anything useful to say. None of this makes much sense. And I'm guessing asking how to get home isn't going to get me any real answers, either.

[There's a squawk off-camera, and he looks concerned for a minute.]

I'm guessing the first step is to head to the next town, right? And start building up a team...

[... Why did he make this broadcast anyway?]

... If anyone's got any advice for that kind of thing, feel free to give it.

[He clicks the broadcast off.]

[He's not in New Bark Town anymore. He's nearby, but he's sitting in a small area free of tall grass, staring down his Pokemon. What's a Rufflet, anyway? ... At least the body language is familiar. He holds out his hand, waiting for the little Pokemon to approach.]

I meant mostly on building a team. I'm... okay at surviving on my own, I don't need help with that.

I was thinking 'balanced' might work for now. I mean, there's going to be all different kinds of types I'll have to fight.

Balance is important, but surely that goes without saying. In my experience, I would tell you that finding a variety of types and balancing your team that way would be better than balancing them on pure strength or speed or the like.

...I think I ended up raising what my first one was weak against. In my case, I had a fire-type as my first, so I got a water. I, uh, I'm guessing you have a flying type or something...?

Well, yeah. Relying on one kind of tactic is never good. I'm just wondering what goes well with each other... or what I can get at this point, I guess.

I'd go with an electric type. Maybe rock or ice, but I've only dealt with the former. Plus the first gym you'll come across is a flying type if you're in Johto. I, uh... I've only got two but the first one I had came in han--Ah!

I started off with a Fire-type and got a Grass-type in Cherrygrove City, the next town. Add a Water-type, and they would cover each other's weaknesses. As for Flying-types, I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what their weaknesses are, but I do know they're strong against Grass.

But if I may, what do you know about tactics?

I know a little bit about covering elemental weaknesses. I know more about just... attacking from different angles, using different techniques to surprise an enemy, covering escape routes... that kind of thing.

Ah, I've raised one of those. The evolved form is called Braviary, and it resembles some sort of eagle.
