So I'm just wondering... a couple of things, really. First of all, how many people are here who are under the age of twenty? It feels like that's a lot of people here - more than you'd usually see in any kind of population. Has anyone tracked that kind of stuff?

And second...

How many people had what people might call... powers or abilities or magic at home? Like, stuff that most people can't do but you can do? I'm not counting if you come from some kind of world where magic is common, but where it's rare and people would stare at you for doing it, that's what I mean.

Th... that's what I was wondering. Let me know. I'm not trying to like... track people down or something. I'm just curious.

Yeah, I had powers. Saved the planet, even. It kinda sucks now, cause I can't fly or phase through stuff....

I wish I were 20 already. 3 years to go, but that's still too long.

I'm under the age of twenty, and I guess you could say that I have special powers.

I've been able to do things that other people can't.

I used to be able to level a building in minutes with nothing but my fists and I'm going to get that back if it kills me.

I'm seventeen. [Not that he looks it, but the whole 'lost four years thanks to shenanigans' thing is hard to explain.] It does seem off-balance, but then maybe whatever's been pulling us here needs people in that age range? It doesn't seem like the people chosen to come here is completely random.

[He frowns a little thinking about the second part.] And...I guess yes and no to the powers thing. Alchemists aren't uncommon where I'm from, but I can do some things that very few other alchemists can. And even then Brother and I got some stares from people in out-of-the-way towns just for doing the normal stuff. So I dunno if I'd count on your list or not, eheh.

Ahh, I was about nineteen when I first got here, if that counts. It's kind of been a few years though.

What's it matter if we -- if other people don't have those powers anymore?

Definitely under twenty! And... well, yeah, we had magic back home. Some of it was a little weirder than most, but it wasn't, you know, unusual.

I might've been able to do the weirder stuff if my dad taught me, but I don't know if he would've. It... was a little out there, haha.

I was 15 when I first arrived here and I turned 17 recently, so...is it really that strange? Are you from a world where kids live with their parents?

Well...at the Academy, a lot of people in my section have a very strong sixth sense, that's why we're scouted by the school. But for me...I can see their form and color as well as feel out their nature. That's a little less common, I guess. People...outside of my hometown probably wouldn't take kindly to me using it on them.

Back when I first got here I was fifteen. I'm gonna be turning nineteen this year... Feels weird.

But I had powers and stuff, I guess. It's more magic and special skills than [ wiggling fingers at the screen here ] super powers.

Oh! I can do things back home! SPECIAL things! Things that nobody else can!
