So I'm just wondering... a couple of things, really. First of all, how many people are here who are under the age of twenty? It feels like that's a lot of people here - more than you'd usually see in any kind of population. Has anyone tracked that kind of stuff?

And second...

How many people had what people might call... powers or abilities or magic at home? Like, stuff that most people can't do but you can do? I'm not counting if you come from some kind of world where magic is common, but where it's rare and people would stare at you for doing it, that's what I mean.

I've been here since August. It might seem like a long time but it really isn't.

... I miss my friends. My home isn't in great shape right now.

Hey, what kind of animals could you turn into?

Well... I was usually a hawk. I got stuck like that, so I could only actually turn into a human for a few hours at a time. But I've been all sorts of things. I've even been a dinosaur.

What? No way.

_{[She's impressed, but that other thing catches her attention too.]}

What do you mean, you got stuck?

Yep.

... Well, you can only stay as something for two hours. After that, if you try to turn back, you can't. I got the ability back, but instead of my 'normal' form being a human, it was a bird. ... And that pretty much never happens. I got really lucky.

So you're really a bird? I mean ... even if you were a boy first, you're really a bird now?

Yeah. It's not so bad, really.
