So I'm just wondering... a couple of things, really. First of all, how many people are here who are under the age of twenty? It feels like that's a lot of people here - more than you'd usually see in any kind of population. Has anyone tracked that kind of stuff?

And second...

How many people had what people might call... powers or abilities or magic at home? Like, stuff that most people can't do but you can do? I'm not counting if you come from some kind of world where magic is common, but where it's rare and people would stare at you for doing it, that's what I mean.

We're usually boarded in dorms or get apartments of our own. I've been living on my own since I was--well, never mind that.

Sorta? I can see them while they're inside of a living person, too, not just wandering souls. Hauntings aren't that common, something...usually happens to the soul before they get a chance to.

There's boarding schools, but I've never been to one. Just public schools. It's - it's fine.

I think so? I don't know, I'm traveling with someone who showed up around the same time as I did. But I think after a while it kind of stops mattering.

Nah, it's fine. I'm kind of at a disadvantage anyway. We have magic back home, but Pokegears? Televisions? Microwaves? Seriously, whoever invented the microwave was a genius.

Yeah, I do. We do. Me and my friends, I mean. We've been fighting them for a few years.

— ah. ( smile, small and strained. ) That's probably true. From what I understand... We can't change our place in this world. But it's hard not to think about. But it's good to have someone to share it with.

Pretty much. I'm not really great with science anyway.

Yeah, I understand. And I think for a lot of people this place is a lot less stressful. Sure, there's more mouths to feed, but you don't have to fight if you don't want to, there's places to explore, and a lot of really friendly people to talk to.

We've held them off, at least. Which I'd count as some kind of progress since it's just six of us.

Well, for one you have to study a whole lot to be able to even start. There's a lot of chemical formulas involved, and most people study well into adulthood to master it. Plus you have to have the ability to channel your energy to fuel the reactions, and like I said, it's not uncommon, but most people don't have enough to do much.
