If you... wanted to honor someone who wasn't here... who'd died... how would you do it? They... she was a hero. She died a hero. So I want to do something, but I don't... it's not like I have her ashes with me.

I know... that as long as I'm around, she's... I mean she's dead, but... I still remember her. I still...

... But she's dead, so... does it even matter anymore? Does... it really matter what I feel about... everything? She wasn't the only one who died that day but I... she was... I...

[He drops the 'Gear, his face in his hands, and a big furry brown paw reaches down to shut it off.]

...Bisidian honors its dead by drinking to their memory while sharing anecdotes and good times. That'd be difficult if you're the only one around who knew her, though, unless you don't mind rambling to other people.

Sounds like you'd have a lot of good memories to share. Maybe, if she had a favorite drink, you could use that instead. It'd be like have a little part of her around, you know?

Maybe... soda. She liked some of the weird kinds of soda.

[That laugh, quiet as it is, brings out an unseen smile.]

Weird sodas? I've heard of worse tastes. Have you seen any of them in the stores around here, or are they too weird even for the locals?

Maybe a bunch of different together from one of those soda fountains. I used to do that too when I was a kid.

Really? That's pretty brave of you both. Ever ended up with unpalatable creations?

That's almost cheating, but if it spared you the bad kinds of weird sodas it's an acceptable trick.

I think so, too. I'm just glad that money isn't as much of a problem here.

Yeah. All you need is a cat or regular minimal wage work to live easily. Most countries don't have it nearly as easy.

I've been working odd jobs, though... I took a break to head up here. I like it at the Lake of Rage. It's... a lot calmer than a lot of places, despite the name.

It's a nice spot to think and relax if you manage to snag a vacation. Supposedly decent for fishing, too, but I'd worry about reeling in whatever gave the lake its name.

I don't really fish. Water and I don't really get along.

When you acquire a morph, you have to be in your 'normal' form. Mine was a bird. We had ocean missions. I've been nearly drowned by a good chunk of ocean wildlife.

...That's an admittedly great disadvantage. Was there no way to... bring the morph to you outside the water, instead?

Not for some of them, no. Try getting a hammerhead shark or an orca to come out of the water while a bird grabs onto it.

The mental image is certainly amusing, but I'm sure trying it for real wouldn't be.

Yeah it's... not so fun. Landing on the giant seven foot tall walking razorblade aliens was easier than a dolphin. I got stuck on the dolphin.

How did that even happen? I mean, as far as I know dolphins are not particularly sticky.

My uh... talon got kind of lodged in the dolphin.

...Seriously. That can't possibly have been pleasant for the dolphin either.
