[Tobias isn't usually the most excited and bouncy of people, but today he looks absolutely overjoyed. Why? Well... the reason is standing next to him, in the form of a bird as big as him. He has an arm around the bird's neck, grinning from ear to ear.]

Regal evolved! It took him a while, but he finally did it!

[He gives the bird a squeeze, and nuzzles his feathers. When he looks at the camera again, his cheeks are a little wet. ... He's not crying. Shush.]

Now all we need to do is to get him a Fly HM, and we can take to the skies. I'm really really proud of him. He worked really hard to do this.

[... He's gonna start crying again, so he just smiles a little shakily and turns off the recording.]

I think we'll probably have to take the ferry. Water is... uh.

[He looks down a little.]

I mean, I live near the ocean at home but I don't really like the water.

That's perfectly understandable. And considering the storms and floods this place gets, I'd even call that smart.

People drown a lot there. And the kinds of birds I like don't fly near there anyway since you can't get good thermals off of the water.

Not interested in seagulls, then? I guess they're not nearly as impressive and majestic as eagles...

They're okay, but they're like rats with wings. They get everywhere, they take food from people, and they're loud.

Can't argue that one. How early do they start making noise, in the mornings?

As soon as the sun's up, really.

I'm surprised anyone is willing to live near that. I don't think I could.

[wing_attack]

The view's nice. I don't live right on the water - that's for the rich and famous, pretty much. But I live close enough that you could catch a bus to there easily.

Sounds a bit like Olivine, except with fewer critters out to attack you on the beach. And with actual transportation.

Yeah. I live near the edge of suburbia. It starts to get into forests if you go further inland.

[video]

[captainash]

Sounds like you're only missing mountains, and maybe a desert.

[video]

[wing_attack]

We've got mountains not too far away, and the desert is... farther but not impossible to get to. I like it there. It's... well I can't say it's peaceful, but it's home.

And that means more than any sort of peace would. Or any sort of Pokémon than we could find during our stays here, if you ask me.

Yeah... I mean, I like them, but I have important things going on at home.

[video]

That's the case for nearly everyone I've spoken with. It looks like this place like to grab busy people.

Yeah. It's kind of frustrating. There's too much to take on for us to get split up.

[video]

[captainash]

...Maybe that's the point. Splitting up people at a critical time, and seeing what happens.

We're barely holding out. We can't afford that.

[captainash]

Luckily, all signs point to us being brought back at the exact time we were taken. In theory, no one should be missing you.

... Really? That's a relief.

[video]

[captainash]

That it is. But the only people who can confirm that are those who fall into week-long comas. Or those who are sent home and later returned here with all their memories.

Still, it's not like we can do anything about it.

That's right. So, might as well enjoy the ride while it lasts, no matter what we'd rather be doing.

And it's not like this world is so bad. Most of the people I've met have been pretty nice, and raising Pokemon is a lot of fun. It's a lot of work, but it's really rewarding.
