[Tobias isn't usually the most excited and bouncy of people, but today he looks absolutely overjoyed. Why? Well... the reason is standing next to him, in the form of a bird as big as him. He has an arm around the bird's neck, grinning from ear to ear.]

Regal evolved! It took him a while, but he finally did it!

[He gives the bird a squeeze, and nuzzles his feathers. When he looks at the camera again, his cheeks are a little wet. ... He's not crying. Shush.]

Now all we need to do is to get him a Fly HM, and we can take to the skies. I'm really really proud of him. He worked really hard to do this.

[... He's gonna start crying again, so he just smiles a little shakily and turns off the recording.]

Do you need to borrow the HM? I have one I wouldn't mind lending to you real quick.

Yeah, it really does. And - are you sure? I don't even really know you...

It was given to me by a friend when she left this place. I'm sure that she'd much prefer it to be spread around, helping people, than just being held by only myself.

[Regal squawks in excitement. He's gonna fly! Oh boy!]

[And lo and behold there is indeed a skinny kid with a giant bird. Said giant bird seems to be... preening the kid. Either that or trying to eat his hair, but given the lack of flailing it's probably the former.]

[Garry arrives not too long after, an Altaria perched on his back with its fluff seemingly trying to envelop him. He gives a wave as he spots Tobias.]

Hi there!

[Tobias waves a little bit. Regal chirps a little in greeting. Hi!]

I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long. Anyway, Fly, right?

[He takes the HM out from his pocket.]

Not really. I like staying near the more natural places in cities anyway.

[He nods, and looks at it, suddenly aware that he has no idea how to use one of these.]

What do I do, exactly?

You just break it over your Pokemon's head. I know it doesn't make much sense, but... Well, HM's seem to let themselves be put back together, so I can always reuse it.

... Okay.

[Regal lowers his head and Tobias breaks it on top. There's a brief flash, and then he takes off into the air. Tobias looks down at the HM and puts the two pieces together. ... Huh. They fit.]

[He hands it back over to Garry and whistles for Regal, who lands and offers his back. Tobias climbs on, holding tight.]

Thank you. ... Really, thank you.

[Garry takes it back, smiling up at Regal.]

It's no problem! I'm glad to help out. Have you ever gone flying like this?

Not... quite like this.

[Regal leans down to offer Garry a friendly beaknudge.]

But I missed being in the air.

It's a bit scary, but it's mostly in gripping with your legs! At least... [Garry smiles as he pets Regal. He has enough birds himself to know how they like to be petted.] With bird Pokemon like these. Right, Kawa?

[The Altaria gives a relaxed coo.]

Heights don't really bother me. And I know he's not going to let me fall. He's smart enough to know to take it slow at first, I hope.

[Regal just fluffs up a little. Of course he does! Or at least he does now.]

That's good to hear... I know some people have a lot of trouble with it at first.

Flying types seem to be my specialty. I knew a lot about birds at home, too. It's kind of easy for me to deal with them and get them to do what I need them to do.

That's good to hear. I'm predisposed to fire types myself... although I didn't realize it until not too long ago.

Do you have a lot of flying types so far then?

I've got Regal, one of those masked birds, five of those small pink birds, one of those little bats, and one of the little orange and blue birds. I want to get more, but I wanted to get Regal trained up first.

So not a lot of ones from around here then... If I ever get to breeding any of mine, would you like one? I only have a Pidgeot and Kawa here, but I'd still like to make the offer.
