[There's a... very uncertain-looking young man peering into the camera. He's really not sure what to make of any of this. It's a little hard to believe that he's like this, and he can't morph, and that there are Pokemon.]

[... He's trying to keep it together.]

[Great start, Tobias.]

I guess... I'm stuck here? No one in town really had anything useful to say. None of this makes much sense. And I'm guessing asking how to get home isn't going to get me any real answers, either.

[There's a squawk off-camera, and he looks concerned for a minute.]

I'm guessing the first step is to head to the next town, right? And start building up a team...

[... Why did he make this broadcast anyway?]

... If anyone's got any advice for that kind of thing, feel free to give it.

[He clicks the broadcast off.]

[He's not in New Bark Town anymore. He's nearby, but he's sitting in a small area free of tall grass, staring down his Pokemon. What's a Rufflet, anyway? ... At least the body language is familiar. He holds out his hand, waiting for the little Pokemon to approach.]

[... This might take a while.]

[Rufflet watches Cherry carefully as he perches on Tobias' shoulder.]

Someone said the first gym had a weakness against electric types? Where would I find one of those?

That's right! First Gym Leader's Falkner, and he's got all flying types. I was able to challenge him without too much trouble because my starter was an Electric type.

Has anyone told you about the breeding center yet? They give one free egg to anyone new who shows up, so you might be able to get a good Electric type there! I can give you the number, if you want.

... Pokemon come from eggs? Like... all of them do?

Uh huh, that's right!

[Jimmy's....well he never played Pokemon before, so he just assumed that was normal.]

That's... really weird. I mean, not for like... birds or snakes, but...

Yeah, maybe a little! But eggs kinda hatch different here too. They don't break open or anything...they kinda start to glow, and suddenly in a burst of light you've got your Pokemon!

[No I don't wanna.]

That's even weirder. They sound like aliens or something.

[... Cute aliens. And not Yeerks.]

You think so? I dunno, I just kinda...went along with it. I'm not a breeder or anything, but I have had a bunch of eggs hatch while I was traveling with them before.

Oh, by the way! If you can get a fire type, try to look for one with an ability called Flame Body. My Volcarona has that, and that makes my eggs hatch twice as fast.

... Sure.

[Eggs and abilities and weird species what is going on.]

[... Well, what's going on is that Rufflet wants to talk, apparently. He sticks his head in from the bottom of the shot, big eyes peering up at Jimmy.]

[You'll...you'll get used to it Tobias. Eventually.

Jimmy offers the Rufflet a little wave, meanwhile.]

Oh! I've seen that Pokemon once before, someone else showed up with one...Rufflet, yeah?

You give it a nickname yet?

Yeah, I think that's what the thing said it was called.

And... no. Not yet. I'm still thinking of one - I wouldn't want to give him a nickname that didn't fit.

Yeah, 'course! No rush or anything.

Oh- this here's Cherry, by the way.

[He says with a gesture to the Furret still draped over his shoulder.]

[He waves a little bit and... tries not to think about how it looks like something he would eat.]

[The Furret just lifts her head a little in greeting, her ears perking as she watches Tobias curiously.]

[That... reminds him.]

What are we supposed to do about food, by the way?

Ah, well your backpack should have a lunch packed in it already...and there's always stuff to buy at different stores and department stores in different towns. Just make sure you stock up before you head out on the road! What you've got should be enough 'till you make enough money to buy more.
